BE MOBILE. BE STRONG. STAY ACTIVE!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If you're ready to achieve pain-free moving and prevent future injuries...

YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT SPOT

is physical therapy right for me?

Physical therapy is for everyone! As physical therapists, we are 'movement experts' and we all need to move! We can treat to fix current pain, recover from an injury, or even prevent future injury, called 'prehabilitation.' Our priority is for you to feel mobile, strong, and prepared to continue your active lifestyle or reach new goals!

do i have to be injured to benefit from physical therapy?

Not at all! We are happy to include 'prehabilitation' in our sessions. Prehabilitation focuses on preparing your body for life's demands The goal: reduce injury risk dramatically. We focus on identifying potential risk factors including lack of mobility, strength, or endurance and compare those to your lifestyle and activity needs.

what kind of injuries do you treat?

We are proud to have over 6-years of experience with a variety of different injuries.

-Acute injuries: sprains, strains, tears, etc.

-Chronic injuries: low back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain, ankle/foot pain, elbow pain, wrist pain, headaches, etc.

-Post-op and return to sport or activity

what is the difference in your appointment types?

Our two main appointment types are physical therapy and dry needling. Dry needling is a quick screening to identify which muscles would help with your symptoms and any red flags to refer out if needed, then the needling for symptom relief. The time frame for relief is different for everyone, but it usually doesn't 'fix' what's causing the problem so eventually it'll come back. The full hour sessions of physical therapy lets us dive more into an assessment of range of motion, strength, movement patterns, etc, so we can work on providing a more long term solution with exercises to help. Dry needling is included within a physical therapy appointment if needed.

what is dry needling? what does it help?

Dry needling is a treatment that uses drug-free acupuncture needles to release tight muscles. It can increase range of motion, reduce pain, inhibit overactive muscles, and improve muscle performance. We offer two different techniques: trigger point and electrical stimulation. Trigger point is one needle at a time that is directly inserted into a trigger point or "knot" with the goal of getting the muscle to twitch and release. Electrical stimulation uses two or more needles into a muscle or muscle group and connect to a current that allows for a steady muscle pump.

do you accept insurance? What if i have medicare?

We are 100% cash-based, which allows us to treat you with 1-on-1 individualized care. See pricing page for details.
HOWEVER... If you have out of network benefits, it may be possible to submit a bill of our services from our sessions (called a superbill) on your own, and possibly receive reimbursement directly to you. Every insurance company is different, so it is recommended to call your insurance provider and ask what/if they will reimburse and what all they need from us to do so and we will make sure to provide it. If you have either HSAs or FSAs, we do accept those! Some may need the superbill mentioned earlier, but some don't require any. Also a good idea to speak with your insurance to know what's needed from us for those to be approved.
We are not allowed to treat patients with government funded insurance (i.e. Medicare, Medicaid) because you are required by law to use your insurance benefits.

what are the benefits of attending a cash-based session instead of using insurance?

There are several benefits to choosing cash-based treatment including, but not limited to:
-Always 1-on-1 focused care from a doctor of physical therapy
-Treat whatever you are in need of that day rather than waiting for insurance approval
-Less total visits overall due to more attentive, individualized treatment
-Transparent, upfront pricing rather than surprises from co-pays or deductibles

-Active treatment rather than passive modalities

-Full gym equipment to address all of your needs

do i need a physician referral?

Not at all! You can save money by skipping the physician visit and come straight to us. North Carolina allows for unlimited direct access to physical therapy. We have the tools and education needed to accurately assess, identify, and treat without physician involvement.

how do i get results?

Easy as 1-2-3!
1. Book your first appointment and fill out associated healthcare paperwork
2. Show up for an assessment with attire easy to move in, ready to share your story & your goals!
3. Determine with your therapist the most appropriate treatment plan and do the work as prescribed.

Physical therapy treatment plans range from attending 1-4x a month. Your current status, goals, schedule, and finances will all play a role in creating the best plan for you. While doing physical therapy, our goal is to make sure you can stay active with things you enjoy and we will prioritize keeping you safe with guidance and accountability.

What our clients say

I saw Dr. Forrest for 2 different injuries and he was great. I appreciate that he focuses on being able to stay active. Having a full hour with him made me feel like he was as much invested in helping me as I was instead of passing me off to an assistant or only seeing me for a short amount of time. Definitely recommend him or Clara for all PT needs!

Clara is the best! I was hesitant to go to another PT because I had some negative experiences in the past, but I’m so glad I did. She is so creative and attentive. She crafted exercises and stretches that were specific to my injury and needs. My shoulder is much better after seeing her for a few months and I feel like I have the tools to keep it that way. I’m also a believer in dry needling, now! Seriously, she’s great! I’d recommend her to anyone!

I have loved my experience with Clara so far! She is so knowledgeable and she really helps me understand what’s going on with my body and how to help the variety of issues at hand. I’m very much looking forward to continuing the work I have put in with Clara on and off the gym floor!!
